By the late 1800’s, Ames & Frost were established as a successful metal-products manufacturer, which eventually led them to developing bicycles during the 1890’s, a time in which bicycle were growing in popularity and demand. The Progress Model 29 was a chain-driven cruiser-style bicycle that featured 31 inch spoked wooden wheels and other various wooden accents such as the chain guard and rear fender. To put what riding an original Progress Model 29 was like in the words of the original manufacturer themselves: “There is no vehicle so useful, and no means of exercise so enjoyable, so beneficial to the health, so easily within the reach of all, so convenient in so many ways, as the bicycle.

This example is VIN: 115376. The seller purchased this motorcycle from a collector in Nebraska a “couple of years ago.

There is a tag on the handlebars from 1948, which represents the last time it was registered in the town of Beatrice, Nebraska.

Modifications:
The seller believes that this bicycle is 100% original “except for the thread on the chain guard and rear fender.

It is riding on what the seller believes are the original tires, which have aged out. “The tires are brittle with age and the wooden rims are probably quite weak so I have not tried to ride it.”
