Additional photos of this board tracker are available here for your perusal.
This is a fascinating custom board tracker that was “designed and built in Hungary in the 1940s after the builder saw a twin engine board track racer.”
“Both engines are circa 1922 NSU 500cc single cylinder, magneto spark engines that produce 22.5 horsepower per engine. At the time, these were reported to be the first 500cc motorcycle engines to exceed 20 horsepower and claimed to have 22.5 horsepower”
“One engine is a few years older and has the mousetrap valve springs. The slightly newer engine has conventional coil type valve springs. Both engines turn over and have good compression but have been sitting in storage with the motorcycle since the 1940s. The original motor plates were damaged and have been replaced.” The engines are paired to a 4-speed transmission.
“The fuel tank is an original paint circa 1922 ABC motorcycle tank. The front end is a 1925 MARS 1000cc.”
“This motorcycle was built for board track racing purposes but was never completed and sat for approximately 60 years before being shipped to the U.S. This is an incredibly unique motorcycle and garnishes lots of attention wherever it is seen. It is an amazing conversation piece and when completed, this will be a show winning, custom, vintage motorcycle.”
This example is VIN: 1031072. The seller acquired it six years ago from the family of the original owner.
The seller has not ridden it. There is no odometer, true mileage is unknown.
“This motorcycle does not run and will need restoration. One magneto is missing and will have to be sourced.”
