Introduced at the 1967 Earls Court show, the Commando was an instant classic – Motor Cycle News named it Motorcycle of the Year in 1968…and the next four years in a row as well. The 1971 Norton Commando 750 is a legendary British parallel-twin motorcycle, celebrated for its smooth ride and exceptional handling. It was the last year of production before the debut of the notorious “Combat” engine in 1972, making the ’71 models highly desirable for their relative reliability.

1971 was the last year of production before the infamous Combat motor debuted, and the 746cc parallel-twin motor produced 58 horsepower.

The odometer shows 8,220 miles.

Maintenance:
The seller states: “I have done all the work on this bike with the exception of the engine crankshaft balancing and the paint on the tail piece, tank, side covers. The front fairing is removeable with a screwdriver by loosening four clamps. The restoration/rebuild spanned four years 2006-2010. The bike has won numerous awards in the Commando modified category at Regional British Iron Rally’s. I have documents to prove all claims”.

The seller states: “I have restored this motorcycle completely. I have replaced with new parts the complete motorcycle minus the frame, engine cases, crankshaft, Lucas controls, handlebar levers and right front-end slider. The engine crankshaft has been professionally balanced, engine bored .20 over, new valves,pistons,rings,pistons lifters,cam,crankcase breather,superblend bearings,pazon ignition ,coils, main wiring harness,Mk3 key console, disc brake, Buchanan rims and stainless spokes, all bearings, stainless steel nuts bolts and washers, new final drive chain,nos rear brake hub/sprocket, oil filter mod, new Amal Concentric Carbs with anodized sliders, swing arm spindle mod, belt primary drive, high output three phase alternator/regulator, new seat as of 3/20206, high output battery, rear frame rail stiffener mod, LED signal lights and tail light, cylinder head temp gauge MK3 upper engine mount,MK3timing cover ,new timing chain, mushroom tappets, New isolastic engine mounts front and rear with vernier adjusters. Side stand bolt mod, MK3 center stand. Chain guard, rear shocks. The bike is equipped with a hand made in England Aluminum fuel tank that follows the lines of the original fiberglass tank. The rear fender is original and is powder coated. The transmission case is new with a MK3 switch assembly for the neutral light on the console. The headlight has a British lens with a halogen lamp headlight bulb. The Smiths instruments were professionally overhauled to zero by a company in New York, The clutch is a six plate Barnett unit and has a clutch rod seal mod”.

The bike has a small dent in the fuel tank on the left upper side along the crest line between top and left side of tank. There are several paint spots/repair on the tail piece and some of the engine crankcase paint has faded.




Currently located in Staffordville, Connecticut, this Norton is offered on a clean Connecticut title.
