Description
As Pulp MX put it, “In the annals of Yamaha history, few bikes have been as celebrated as the YZ465. Only produced for two years in the early 80s, the 465’s combination of abundant power, supple suspension, and tight handling, made it the Japanese bike to beat. Even today, YZ465s are treasured classic racers.”
Upon it’s release, the 465 was applauded for its excellent brakes, light weight (only a few pounds heavier than most 250s), and boasted being the first production motocrosser to produce 50 horsepower at the crank. For a period test review dating April 1980, check out this Cycle World test where they said of the Yamaha, “The 465 is an extremely agile open class machine. It is light and can be thrown around like a 250. It goes where the rider points it (as long as the front wheel is on the ground) and the chassis doesn’t twist or flex.”
This example is VIN: 3R5000396. The seller purchased the bike one year ago and states, “I love vintage motocross bikes. I have 3 that are 1980s bikes.”
