With the popularity of lightweight commuters growing across the globe in the early 1980’s, Suzuki aimed to capitalize on this trend with an emergence of models that would meet the wants and needs of the market at large.
The GP125 was a result of those trends, offering riders an agile, less maintenance-intensive, and surprisingly capable package that checked all the right boxes for its time. While the GP came powered by a single-cylinder 123cc two-stroke engine, looks can deceiving, as the mill put out a punchy 20 horsepower at its peak. With a dry weight tipping the scales at around 216 pounds, the 125 was perfect for maneuverability in, around, and through traffic.
