Introduced in 1990, the RC36 generation of the VFR was considered by many to be one of the greatest all-around motorcycles of its time. In fact, the RC36 was sold between 1990 and 1997, and it won a “Ten Best” award from Cycle World every single year.
From CW’s 1990 story: “The VFR isn’t the fastest in its displacement category, and it won’t set the quickest lap times around the nearest racecourse. What it will do, with its balance, poise and deftness, is give its rider the best all-around motorcycle in the business.”
The 748cc DOHC V-4 engine was paired with an aluminum frame and a single-sided swingarm, giving it some flash to pair with the practicality.
