Description
Introduced at the end of the 80s, the RGV250 was filled with design cues from Suzuki’s 250cc Gamma Grand Prix racer. When de-restricted, it produced over 60 horsepower to motivate just 282 pounds of dry weight. Visor Down called it, “The purest and most race-bred two-stroke track tool ever to make it into a showroom.”
Even 30 years later, it’s still held up well. Per MCN: “It still looks good, sounds amazing and the smell of burning two-stroke oil will take you right back. Put simply, it’s still sensational.”
The second generation of the RGV (Racing Gamma V-Twin) debuted in 1991 as the VJ22. It featured 41mm upside down forks, 17″ rear wheel, a bump in power to 62 hp (restricted to 45 hp for JDM bikes), and some electronics including Multiple Digital Ignition System (MDIS), Automatic Exhaust Timing Control (AETC), and Suzuki Advanced Power Control (SAPC).
This example is VIN: VJ22A114693. The seller states “This is the second RGV I have bought with this paint scheme. I used to own a similar bike in the mid 90s which I ended up selling. I found this bike by accident and when I saw it I bought it immediately. I have always had a passion for these bikes owning several RGV250s and NSR250s over the years. Since obtaining the bike I have cleaned her up, reworked the carbs, changed the oil, flushed the brake fluids. I purchased a new Jolly Moto exhaust for the bike as well. I am at a point where I am realizing I have to many toys and have decided to part ways with a few things and this bike is one of them. The SP had upgrades that include close ratio transmission, dry clutch, straight plug heads, 34mm carbs, adjustable suspension, silver top triple clamp, and white wheels.”
The odometer shows 15,393 KM which is 9,565 miles.
Maintenance:
The seller states “the gearbox oil was changed with Motul oil, the oil injection is still intact and is Motul 710, and the brakes were flushed and running Motul 600 brake fluid. The battery was replaced in October with an EBL lithium battery. The carbs were gone through and some items replaced which are the parts listed on the Franks MX Parts invoice. I also had ordered some misc parts from Megazip which are either already on the bike or in the parts box that goes with bike. New UNI air filter installed. There is fresh 93 octane ethanol free in the fuel tank.”
Modifications:
OEM Gamma fairings. Per the seller, “The bodywork has been changed by the previous owner…the bike’s VIN falls within the stated VIN range for the SP model starting at 645 for the last 3 digits, and as well has all of the SP parts such as original ignition box, close ratio transmission, dry clutch, straight plug heads, 34mm carbs, adjustable suspension, aluminum bottom triple clamp, and white wheels.”
The seller states “The exhaust silencers were changed to carbon fiber units prior to my ownership of the bike.”
The kickstand, and rear sets, have been chromed.
Upper fairing stay has been chromed.

It is riding on Metzler MEZ3 tires with date codes of 438 and 1703.
