Description
Click here for an VINData Motorcycle History Report on this 1993 Ducati 900 Superlight. Please note that the report errantly states that this is a 2023 model, however it shows 1993 on the title.
Upon its debut in 1991, the 900SS proved a resounding success due to the exotic Italian styling and punchy performance. Per usual, Ducati felt the best means to market the bike was to produce a limited edition numbered variant. Accordingly, the Bologna-based firm released the 900 Superlight (SL) just a year later.
Originally, Ducati only planned to released 500 examples; over time, that number grew to around 900, with 300 yellow variants making their way stateside.
Though it featured the same engine, frame, and suspension as the standard 900SS, the Superlight boasted a variety of choice extras. Moreover, throughout the model’s production life, Ducati released several iterations — beginning with the Superlight I and culminating with the Superlight IV in 1995. The Superlight I (like the one being offered here) featured a set of 17-inch Marvic wheels, carbon fiber fenders, and a sporty solo seat. Together, these upgrades shaved nearly 25lbs off off the dry weight, making it one of the lightest bikes in its class.
This example is VIN: ZDM1LC4N0PB006550. The seller acquired it from a “80 year old gentleman in Iowa” in April of 2021.”
It is #902 of the production run.
During his ownership, the seller has covered 458 miles. The odometer shows 15,384 miles.
The seller states that the “SL was always a dream bike for me from when I was in college and they were released but I was a broke college kid and could only afford a used GSXR 750. When I saw this for sale, I just had to have it. I just don’t ride it as I’ve put less than 500 miles on it. I find my Harleys to be much more my speed and comfort level now.”
Maintenance:
The seller states that there are no known mechanical issues. He notes that the belts were last replaced in May of 2021, at that time he also had all fluids flushed.
Modifications:
Termignoni exhaust.
Corbin seat, aftermarket tank protector.
It is riding on Michelin tires with date codes of 2308 and 3508.
The sale includes two keys. It also includes the official workshop manual and a Fast by Ferracci stand.
Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album up top for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
“30 years ago previous owner had a slow fall in his driveway. Right Termi can and pipe have scratch. Right fairing was repaired and repainted…the only reason I can tell is there is overspray on the foam on the inside. They did a good job on the repaint. Tank has 2 small dings on right side. Pegs, clipons, and levers must have been replaced as there are no scratches on them. 1 fairing bolt has scratches and I placed it on the left side so it’s not noticeable. Minor chips in paint from road use.”
Currently located in Lake St. Louis, Missouri, this Ducati is offered on a clean Missouri title.
