Americans know this bike as the ZX-7, but in international markets Kawasaki sold it as the ZXR750.
1993 was a great year for this legendary bike – a model update meant it got the motor from the previous year’s homologation bike (minus the close-ratio transmission and the flat slide carbs) AND it was the first year of the ram-air intake!
Very few changes were made for the 1994 (ZX750-L2) model, but that’s OK because the upgrades bumped up power from 100 to 119 at the crank (a June 1995 test by Performance Bike Magazine showed 108.5 horsepower at the rear wheel). The engine was stuffed into an aluminum perimeter frame and the whole package weighed 452 pounds dry.
The seller of this example (VIN: ZX750J030065) purchased it approximately one year ago here on Iconic Motorbike Auctions from a seller in South Africa.
The odometer shows 68,102 kilometers (42,316 miles).
The seller had Iconic import this bike, and then service it with a carb clean and new battery. Angel did the work, he notes that it needs new intake boots and that the petcock is leaking. After the bike arrived to us, the seller decided he wanted a homologation (R-model) instead.
