Never sold in the United States, the Goose was Suzuki’s take on the single-cylinder sportbike market that saw entrants such as the Yamaha SRX and Honda GB. Suzuki utilized the workhorse thumper from their DR350 dual-sport but stuffed it in a tubular frame paired with a Tokico four-piston caliper, upside-down forks from a Suzuki RGV125, separate stylized oil tank under the engine, and something that every DR350 rider can appreciate: an electric starter.

Suzuki bumped output to 33 hp at 8,000 rpm and 24 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm with a larger carb (40mm vs 33), different piston, different cylinder-head porting and narrowed intake ports, altered cam timing, and less restrictive exhaust. They also went with a higher first gear ratio and more crankshaft mass.

Special touches included cast tank logos and cast alloy swingarm pivot plates that provide mounting locations for the shock top mount and the rear engine mounts.

Suzuki says the surprising name of Goose was “inspired by the famous Gooseneck corner on the Isle of Man TT racing course.”

In fact, the curvature of the metal insert on the sidecover was designed to emulate the layout of Gooseneck Corner.

Suzuki did not make any mechanical changes throughout the lifespan of the Goose, but they did add a silver paint job option starting in 1996. The last year of production was 1999.
