ICONIC PROJECTS: if you follow us on Instagram (and you should!), you know that we’ve recently partnered up with Kamikaze Motorsports in Glenwood, Iowa. One of the many new services that will be coming from our partnership is a series of project bikes for those of you that like to tinker or are looking for a lower entry price to a bike you’ve always wanted for our White Glove service to fix up on your behalf.

Additional photos are available here for your perusal.

Yamaha ushered in the R1 in 1998, and it set a whole new standard when it came to not only outright power but a truly well-developed race bred package that demanded a serious amount of respect of those who would ride it. Quite simply, the bike was fast…very fast, and it was also light with dimensions that lined up closer to a 600cc bike of its day rather than the other liter bikes it would compete against.

It wouldn’t be until 2001 and the release of the GSX-R1000 from Suzuki that Yamaha and the R1 would face any real competition. The late 1990’s YZF-R1 still stands as one of the most important bikes of the last 30 years.

This example is VIN: JYARN02E2XA005038.

The odometer shows 7,023 miles.

Hindle exhaust.

Solo seat cowl cover.

Carbon tank scratch guard.

This bike is running, but will need a battery. The inside of the fuel tank is clean.

Currently located at our facility in Glenwood, Iowa (please make an appointment for an inspection), this Yamaha is offered on a clean Michigan title. Have any R1 stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the comments!
