In 2002, Ducati released two race replicas based on the 998S – one of Ben Bostrom’s bike, and one of Troy Bayliss’. 400 examples were built of the latter, which commemorated Troy’s 2001 WSBK championship.

2002 was the first year of the 998, which featured an all new Testastretta motor that produced 123 horsepower (up 11 from the 996). Ducati offered the base 998, the 998S, and the 998R. The middle-of-the-road “S” model got an Ohlins shock and steering damper, carbon fiber belly pan, revised brake calipers, and color-matched mirrors.

Upgrades for the Bayliss replica obviously included the custom livery, but it also came with Ohlins forks, more carbon fiber bodywork, and upgraded Brembo four-pot front brake calipers.

This Ducati was serviced at Desmoto Sport on December 13th, 2019 with a brand new battery and fuel flush so that it fires right up. With that said, the tires are from 2003 and have a bit of dry rot – so expect to replace them and the belts if you plan on riding it. Whether or not you want to ride it or just display it and hear the glorious sound from the Termi exhaust every once in a while, this Bayliss rep is ready for you.
