In 2005, the highest-performing motorcycle you could buy with a Ducati logo on the tank was the 999R. Putting one in your garage would you set you back $29,995 – $7,000 more than the already-impressive 999S. Several journalists considered this the closest a member of the public could get to owning a WSBK bike at the time. But what if you wanted more?

That’s how the seller (who is the original owner) of this 999R (VIN: ZDM1UB5W95B013461) felt, so he went to Evoluzione Cyclesports in Simi Valley, California to have them take this Ducati to the next level.

Motorcyclist magazine had an excellent article on this machine that you can check out here – a copy of the issue will be included in the sale. Highlights of the work include a carbon fiber fuel tank/bodywork:

BST carbon fiber wheels:

Ohlins shock with a titanium spring:

Ohlins R/T forks with Superbike-spec valving, Brembo billet calipers, and BrakeTech Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) rotors:

The internals of the impressive stock motor (good for 139 horsepower at the rear wheel) were left alone as Ducati’s Corse department had already bestowed the motor with large titanium valves and titanium con-rods.

With that said, this motor now makes 155 to the rear wheel thanks to a Leo Vince full titanium system that was ceramic coated inside and outside as well as tuning by Ken Zeller of Evoluzione Cyclesports.

Finishing touches include a high beam delete so there’s just one headlight, Competizione clutch slave cylinder, and a Competizione clutch with Evoluzione Cyclesports billet clutch cover. No stock parts are included.

Per Motorcyclist, this bike weighs 399 pounds with 1 gallon of gas in the tank, which represents a 34 pound savings over the already-svelte 999R!

We note some chips in the bellypan and left lower fairing which are from a slow tipover in the seller’s garage – photos of all known cosmetic issues are included in the album up top. This bike has never been crashed.

This Ducati is currently available for closer inspection at our Santa Monica location – please contact us to make an appointment if you’d like to come see it. It has 4,309 miles and is offered with a clean California title and current registration through April 2021. It received a $1,700 service at Pro Italia in the fall of 2019 which included new tires, belts, and a complete fluid flush.

The Motorcyclist article also says that it took $65,000 to build this impressive Ducati – thankfully you won’t have to spend as much to put it in your garage.
