After Aprilia was bought by Piaggio, they came out with a pair of enduro/supermoto machines that were unlike anything the world had ever seen. Available in 450 and 550cc models, the RXV (enduro) and SXV (supermoto) ditched the usual carb’d singles for a fuel-injected V-twin. The result was 60 hp at the crank (for the 450) in a bike that weighed well under 300 pounds ready to ride.
Unfortunately, these bikes often suffered from an orange sealant failure compromising the engine. Mechanical inconsistencies aside, these bikes were well reviewed with riders noting the high revving V-twin, unique design, and optional race kits to improve performance.
This example is VIN: ZD4VSC4097S000366. The seller purchased the bike from a Copart auction in 2020 and states, “This bike was a project that I slowly rebuilt and worked on but no longer have the time to finish it.”
The odometer shows 5,565 miles.
Maintenance:
Per the seller, “The bike was written off as salvage, damage to the crank case and radiator was repaired. The bike starts and idles however it is an earlier orange sealant SXV model and the engine MUST be resealed before road use. The bearings/bushings required are included with extras needed for at least 3-4 more future rebuilds”
Modifications:
“Samco hoses, customized gas tank, custom suede Seat Concepts wider comfort seat, Protaper handlebars.”
It is riding on Continental Twinduro tires with date codes of 2818 and 1919.
The sale includes one key, take-off and extra parts.
