Aprilia introduced the Tuono just after the turn of the millennium, and the naked Italian superbike has remained an important model in the Noale firm’s lineup ever since. Just like with its full-faired counterpart, the Tuono was well received by the riding public – a good-looking bike with a well-designed chassis, top-shelf components, and an exotic roaring V-Twin exhaust note that was purely sublime.
The Tuono 1000 R Factory gets the same advanced engine and highly capable chassis as the base model, but it came with several excellent updates:
A whole bunch of carbon fiber.
This example is VIN: ZD4RRTT148S000798.
The seller acquired it in October 2017 from a dealership mechanic in Charleston, South Carolina. During his ownership, the seller has covered roughly 2,500 miles. The odometer shows 17,052 miles. He is letting it go due to an accident that has left him unable to ride.
Maintenance:
“I’m religious on maintenance and have annually changed all fluids with full synthetic, Motul motor oil, Motul synthetic brake bleed, and Engine ice coolant flushes. This annual service was just completed 3/12/22.
Through my ownership I’ve taken care of the all typical Aprilia issues of this era Tuono/RSV:
– Fuel cap gas spew – previous owner unfortunately pitched the original gas cap, and tried fitting a billet aluminum racing gas cap,…. which still spilled gas when the tank was full. I purchased another OEM gas cap with key, mounted it, and properly adjusted the seal to eliminate leaking through the gas cap.
– Aprilia charging system failure (Voltage regulator, ‘Brown plug,’ and stator – New stator and voltage regulator were installed and the failure prone ‘brown plug’ eliminated with a hard solder connection where the plug was. No charging issues present
– Aprilia black clutch fluid
– Evap plumbing from tank to tail was removed and capped, providing additional space under the passenger seat”
The seller states that there are no known mechanical issues. “Bike is ready for the season with all the new fresh fluids.
Chain maintenance occurred every 600 miles. Only ethanol free fuel has been used – the gas tank is not swollen / expanded from ethanol fuel. The rear tire is brand new, it has maybe 3 miles on it..”
Modifications:
“An Oberon billet clutch slave cylinder was installed with silicone grease around the seals of the piston, then a thorough clutch line bleed, and final fill with Motul RBF 600 full synthetic fluid.”
“Euro clear front turn signal lenses were mounted, original amber lenses will be included.”
“The gas tank protector has some light scratches / wear.
The carbon fiber of the rear fender has a stain at the very tip.”
“I removed the front fender reflectors but they’ll go with the bike. ”
It is riding on Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S21 tires with date codes of 3417 and 1219.
The sale includes two keys, the Use + Maintenance book, Warranty + Service book, red passenger seat, passenger seat strap, and Aprilia “race” front sprocket.
