Every once in a while, we get a submission that’s so comprehensive that it doesn’t make sense for us to try and paraphrase it. If you’d like to learn more about Lessman Racing, check out this link. Seeing as the seller built this custom hardtail from the ground up, we’ll let him take it from here:
“I always wanted a full custom bike.”
“The entire bike was a custom one-off build. I commissioned the engine from Gates Performance Engineering. It took four years to develop the engine — I believe it is the only Gates motor with dual injection.”
“Kustoms Inc built the frame. I assembled the components. The entire project required six years from start to finish.”
What results is a project that is packed full of trick parts and custom touches. The powertrain comprises a mammoth 154CI (2,503cc) Gates V-Twin mated to a Baker Torque Box, while Performance Machine and Extreme Machine components take care of stopping power. Add to that a suite of custom controls and an eye-catching one-off paint scheme, and you have a hardtail that’s sure to make an impression. If you’d like to learn more about the bike and its story, check out these photos of the Ultimate Motorcycling issue within which it was featured!
This example is VIN: 1KI54G300BTB540G. The seller acquired the frame from Kustoms Inc. in 2005. He states that the bike does not feature a stamped VIN but that it is as assigned by the state of Nevada.
The odometer shows 609.7 miles.
Maintenance:
Per the seller: “Yearly check up, Oil and lube as required. Records not available. The tune up via the ECU has been a continuing effort and is in very good tune at present. The tuning requires software from Daytona Twin Tech.”
