Harley-Davidson has a long history of touring that goes all the way back to the early FL models of post-war America. At the time, returning GIs were looking to travel farther and faster, and the big cruisers made for an ideal way to see the country.

Come 1965, Harley-Davidson re-branded its FL the “Electra Glide” on account of the bike’s then-novel electric starter. Just a few years later, a fork-mounted fairing — known unofficially as the “batwing” fairing — became an optional add-on. As time passed, however, the batwing became an integral part of the Electra Glide’s image; eventually, Harley-Davidson even relocated the instrument panel from the fuel tank to the dash and made the fairing a permanent feature.

For 2011, the Electra Glide came loaded with tour-ready amenities, including mid-frame air deflectors, wide bars, a passenger backrest with wrap-around armrests, lockable saddlebags, as well as a CB intercom and a Harman Kardon sound system.

Expectedly, power came from a thumping V-twin. Measuring some 110 cubic inches (1,690cc) in displacement, it made 100lb-ft of torque — more than enough grunt to move the bike’s nearly 1000-pound heft.

Being a Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) model, the Electra Glide you see before you is one of approximately 1,500 examples for that year.

Additionally, it boasts the following upgrades:

Black Ember and Rio Red with Flame graphic paint.

Screamin’ Eagle Twin Cam 110 Granite powder-coated powertrain.

Contrast Chrome Roulette Wheels.

Tech Zumo 660 GPS.

Suspended, dual-control heated seat, passenger backrest with adjustable lumbar support.

Rumble Collection rider and passenger touch-points.

Chrome billet muffler end caps.

Chrome mirrors.

Diamond-cut inserts.

This example is VIN: 1HD1PR818BB955314, engine #: PR8B955314.
