With a timeless design harking back to its formative years in the 80’s, the Harley Davidson Sportster 883 is a classic cruiser motorcycle that exudes ageless style and exhilarating performance. Powered by an air-cooled, Evolution V-twin engine good for some 833cc’s of displacement, the Sportster represents the perfect blend of power and agility. The air-cooled Evolution twin produced 51hp and 50lb-ft of torque, paired to a 5-speed transmission.

Arizona-based DP Customs — helmed by brothers Justin and Jarod Del Prado — is a regular player in the custom scene, routinely putting out builds that are truly transformative. They work almost exclusively with Harleys, and each one is wildly different in its design.

In 2013 they tried something different – they partnered with Local Motors to crowdsource the design of their next build. The only rule was that the design had to be based on a Harley-Davidson Sportster. First prize was $2,000 cash (or $5,000 credit towards purchase of the final product) and it went to a Portuguese designer named Andre “Lude” Costa. Mr. Costa’s work re-imagined the Sportster as a low-slung hardtail with inspiration from a Brabham BT44B, and the resulting build was featured on several popular custom bike websites.

The seller has provided photo documentation from the build process to show the extent of the work that went into the project.

Beyond the striking white frame and eye-catching Martini livery, the bike boasts a number of retro F1-inspired custom touches, including:

Dish wheels.

Intake scoop.

Seat and rear fender.

Tail light.

This example is VIN: 1HD1CGP111K114953. The seller purchased this example nine years ago from DP Customs.

Per the seller, the bike has only covered 1,000 miles. However, there is no odometer, so true mileage is unknown.

Maintenance:
Given the bike’s low mileage, the seller states he has only performed “minor preventative maintenance.”

Modifications:
Custom hardtail, battery relocation.

Aftermarket headlight, handlebars, controls, mirror.

Custom ignition switch.

Custom exhaust, engine cover.

Inside of the tank:

It is riding on Dunlop American Elite and Dunlop K591 tires.

Cosmetic Blemishes:
The seller reports that there are no cosmetic blemishes of note.
