For the 2011 model year, KTM addressed some of the initial criticisms (harsh throttle response and poor fueling) levied at the impressive RC8. The updates were significant enough that the Austrian firm tacked on a “R” to the evolution, now called the RC8R.

Some of the updates included a displacement bump to 1,195cc, twin spark cylinder heads, revised cam timing, and a heavier flywheel. KTM claimed 175 horsepower and an impressive 93.6 lb-ft of torque at the crank.

One thing people new to the model are typically surprised to learn is how adjustable the ergonomics are. Remember that this machine initially came out over a decade ago, yet it featured adjustable footpegs, clipons (height/angle), levers, pedals, and even the subframe (which provides almost an inch of adjustability in the seat height). No one’s going to confuse this for a touring bike, but as Motorcycle.com put it, “with the clip-ons in their high setting, visions of a 500-mile day seem possible.”

This example is VIN: VBKVR940XEM901515. The seller acquired it one year ago from a private party.

During his ownership, the seller covered 600 miles. The odometer shows 8,144 miles.

Modifications:
Ohlins steering stabilizer.

Wave rotors front and rear.

Puig light smoke windscreen. The sale includes the original windscreen.

Vortex levers. The sale includes the original levers.

CRG mirrors. The sale includes the original mirrors.

Integrated front turn signals, tail tidy with relocated rear turn signals. The sale includes the original license plate mount and turn signals.

New rider seat.

Shorai battery (1.5 years old).

The sale includes the owner’s briefcase, owner’s manual, one key, and original parts as noted above.

The sale also includes the pictured Baxley Sport Chock.

The seller notes that the 2014-2015 had black side fairings (as shown here). The previous owner of this bike mentioned that this came with the white side fairings (likely from a 2012 model) when he acquired it from Euro Cycle in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2017.

The seller states that there are no cosmetic blemishes or known mechanical issues. In August of 2021 he had Iconic install the rear wave rotor, new rear brake pads, and new Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tires with date codes of 4020 and 4720.

The next service due in 2,257 miles.
