In 2016, BMW Motorrad UK announced a limited production run of the S1000RR superbike – a visual replica of the Tyco British Superbike racers campaigned by Ian Hutchison, Christian Iddon, and Michael Laverty. It was the highest-spec S1000RR available in the UK at the time thanks to approximately £3,000 worth of parts and accessories.
The suite of extras included Dynamic Damping Control, Dynamic Traction Control, Gear Shift Assist Pro, forged wheels, cruise control, and heated grips. Goodies from the BMW’s “HP” lineup were the levers, pegs, and Akrapovic exhaust. The bike also came with a stand, pit mat, bike cover, and a color-matched seat cowl.
This example (VIN: WB10D1008GZ337903) has had just two owners, and there are 4,700 miles on the odometer. It was sold in August of 2016 and it comes with a registration from that year, full service history, and a Datatag.
The bodywork has been wrapped with Invisible Patterns paint protection film, and the tail is signed by both Ian Hutchinson and Christian Iddon of the official Tyco team.
The owner of this machine has correspondence with the Motorrad Manager at Cotswold BMW Motorrad who confirmed with corporate that this is #14 of the 75 bikes that were scheduled to be made – but “they actually only made 35 of the bikes…as they took such a long time to paint“, making it even more rare than originally thought.
To reiterate standard procedures with Iconic Motorbike Auctions, potential buyers are responsible for knowing their local importation laws before bidding – our White Glove service would be happy to shop around and help with the process. We love the high-spec and exclusivity of this official BMW product that was only offered in the UK, and we hope you do, too!
