Vespa launched the 946 in 2013 with stylish retro looks inspired by the original MP6 Vespa prototype from 1946. The monocoque frame is pressed steel and many components which have traditionally been injection-molded plastic on previous models have been upgraded to aluminium such as the handlebars, horncast, and front fender.

Weighing 346 pounds, the 946 is powered by Piaggio’s 125cc or 150cc engine with a claimed top speed of 57mph, fuel consumption of 100mpg+, and is the first Vespa with ABS and electronic traction control.

In 2021 Vespa partnered with iconic fashion house Dior to release this limited edition collaboration with only 946 examples world wide. Designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, Creative Director of Dior women’s collections, the scooter is adorned with Dior’s classic Oblique motif, unique beige paint paired with gold accents and a blue leather saddle with monogram upholstery. To round out the look, owner’s also had the option of purchasing matching top case and helmet from Dior boutiques.
