Click here for an VINData Motorcycle History Report on this 2022 Moto Guzzi V85 TT.
First teased at the 2017’s EICMA Milan Motorcycle Show as the Concept 85 adventure tourer, Moto Guzzi’s V85 eventually came to market in 2019. The Mandello del Lario based firm tapped their brief rallying history from the mid-80s when it competed in the Paris-Dakar Rally with the V65 and V75. Upon release, the bike received lots of press coverage as it essentially became the one and only retro-inspired adventure bike.
Powering the middleweight is an air-cooled 853cc transverse 90-degree V-twin engine producing 80 hp at 7,750 rpm. With traditional Moto Guzzi layout of two valves per cylinder and titanium intake valves, it delivers 59lb-ft. of torque at 5,000 rpm. The Italian firm claims 90% of the torque is available as low as 3,750 rpm, but the engine’s biggest perk to it owners is the shaft drive, making it the only bike in its segment offering this low-maintenance feature upon release.
With its steel tubular frame, the bike tips the scales at 505lbs wet, significantly lighter than the 598 pound Stelvio. Originally released with two versions, the TT (all-arounder) and Adventure (with luggage), the lineup was subsequently modified with the Travel replacing the Adventure and a street oriented Strada joining the lineup. Want to learn more? Iconic’s very own Abhi spent a few days with the bike riding it out to San Antonio from Los Angeles and you can read his thoughts here, here, here, and here.
