This is believed to be a one-off prototype of an all-terrain vehicle built by KSM Innovations of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It was designed as “light weight, single track, motorized vehicle that is amphibious, unsinkable, all terrain and all season, safe and stable and having no need of transformations or additions to adapt it to different weather or terrain conditions” in Patent # 4,981,188 as filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office.
The history of this prototype is not well-known, however per David’s Vintage Snowmobile Page this was likely built in “late 79 to early 80s” and that KSM was “working on a deal with Honda back in the day with this to be a dual-purpose ATV.” The seller adds that “rumor is KSM lost the contract with Honda for the motors due to a design flaw.”
It is powered by a Honda ATC125 engine that is connected to a one piece track drive system. The seller states that it is in “running, moving condition” though it needs a new battery.
The seller acquired it one year ago from a private collector in Edmonton, Alberta. During that time he has covered just one mile with it. There is no odometer and true mileage is unknown. The seller estimates that this has covered 1,000 miles.
He notes that the rubber track is dry and the paint is peeling.
The left side motor cover is included, it was removed to get photos of the engine and will be reinstalled prior to delivery.
Currently located in Phelpston, Ontario, Canada, this KSM is offered on a Bill of Sale only. The seller says that he can assist with shipping and crating if needed. Have any questions about this listing? Let us know in the comments!
