In 1992, Yamaha offered up the TZ250D – by most accounts it was “the final major step in the evolution of what most consider the modern TZ250.” The year prior, Yamaha had reintroduced the V-Twin engine, partnering it with 38mm Mikuni flat slides and guillotine exhaust valves. It also got upside down forks, an asymmetrical swingarm, and wider rear wheel – the ’92 Isle of Man TT was won by a TZR250.

For 1993, Yamaha changed up the exhaust and scavenging ports, updated the ignition system, and revised the combustion chamber. Also updated were the frame, fairing, fuel tank, exhaust, and shift linkage – plus the brakes were upgraded with cast iron Brembo rotors.

This example is VIN: JYA4DPW07PA002308. The seller acquired it 13 years ago from a local fellow racer.

During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 1,500 race miles. There is no odometer, true mileage is unknown.

Maintenance:
“The bike has been well maintained for duration of my ownership. It has been used for a track weekend and usually two races per season. It was not used in 2020 and 2021. During the winter of 2022-23, the bike was completely rebuilt – engine dismantled, crankshaft rebuilt, fresh Nikasil on cylinders, pistons, clutch plates and other parts replaced with OEM parts.

On chassis, forks were rebuilt and all bushings on rear shock linkage and swingarm replaced, brakes rebuilt, etc. The bodywork was professionally repainted at this time. Since then the bike has only been used sporadically. The bike has about 230 miles on it since the rebuild and pistons have about 100 mile son them. The bike was last raced in August of 2025 and last started on August 21 of this year. All work done by owner, no receipts.” The seller states that there are no known mechanical issues.

Modifications:
Not pictured: carbon fiber reeds, carbs bored to 39mm, 1994 cylinders, 1994 ignition box (1993 ignition box is included).
“Aftermarket exhaust pipes that are longer and fatter than stock pipes (stock pipes included).”

It is riding on Dunlop tires with date codes of 0516 and 1119.

The sale includes the service manual and a large amount of new and used parts shown in the photographed list below. Also includes the original stand and a new wind screen.
Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album in the “Photos” tab for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
“Some scratches in the paint, some imperfections in the fiberglass. Dent on right exhaust pipe, marks on frame, worn paint in places like handlebar controls etc.”
