If you’ve been following Iconic for any time, you’ll know that we’re huge fans of Scott Russell. Today we have one of his personal helmets up for auction. Scott told Iconic “I can’t remember which races I wore it in, but it would’ve been used in the years 97–98″”

Scott Russell has long been a fan favorite – especially after his incredible comeback victory at Daytona in 1995. Shoei later offered a replica livery of the helmet from his 1996 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season with Suzuki. The livery was created by Troy Lee Designs and was so popular that Shoei ended up offering a production replica.

In addition to his storied WSBK career, Mr. Daytona spent two years in Grand Prix motorcycle racing with Lucky Strike Suzuki racing 500cc two-strokes. In the 1996 season, he placed 6th overall after competing in 13 races and earning 2 podiums.

The helmet is signed by Scott Russell. Scott told us “I wore my helmets and then I would give them away at the end of the year, a lot of them to team members, and people close to me. I just wanted to keep this one as I wore it often.”

During Adam’s recent visit with Scott in October ’26, Scott signed two helmets for auction. The second helmet will be auctioned with Scott Russells 1993 Muzzy Kawasaki ZX-7R WSBK.

It is a Shoei X-8 SP II model. “Any of my helmets with the Screaming Chief on the back were custom painted by Troy Lee Designs.”

Scott Russell told us that these extra holes were added for extra ventilation. Scott recalls a scoop or cover for the holes at one point. Per Scott: “The holes were custom drilled for extra ventilation at a hot race. There would’ve been a scoop or some type of cover double sided taped over the holes that came off over the past 30 years.”

Currently located in Panorama City, California, this Shoei is offered on a Bill of Sale only. Have any Scott Russell stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the “Comments” tab!
