Retro-inspired modern classics seem to be all the rage right now, but a few companies were well-ahead of the game. One of the most notable efforts was the Kawasaki ZRX1200R – Cycle World called it “a replica of a replica“, as it was designed to make you think of the iconic 1982 Eddie Lawson Replica.
The 1,164cc DOHC liquid-cooled engine produced 123 horsepower, good for a top speed of over 120 mph. It’s fun but also comfortable if you’re the kind of person that wants to ride for hours at a time.
It was available in silver, red, blue, and of course: Kawi Green.
Manufactured in September 2004, this example is VIN: JKAZR9A105A039451. The seller acquired it 14 months ago from a private party.
During his ownership, the seller has covered ten miles. The odometer shows 5,596 miles.
The owner is selling this and a few other bikes with Iconic Motorbikes to free up room for the Vyrus Alyen 988 he recently acquired through Iconic.
Maintenance:
The seller provided receipts from EDR Performance of a comprehensive service totaling over 21 hours of labor (visible in the photo album), included carburetor cleaning and tuning, installation of a Factory Pro Stage III jet kit, and dyno tuning. The work also included an oil and filter change, coolant replacement, and installation of a new lithium battery. Serviced forks with new seals and oil, the brakes were also fitted with new sintered metal pads, and the steering head bearings and seals were replaced. The fuel petcock was rebuilt, new K&N pod filters fitted, along with Samco Silicone coolant hoses, new front (17) and rear (42) sprockets, a new gold RK 530 Max Z drive chain, and a new chain guard.
