Introduced in 2001, Yamaha’s FJR1300 was developed as a high-performance sport-tourer, combining the power of a large-displacement inline-four with the comfort and practicality needed for long-distance riding. Its 1,298cc liquid-cooled engine is paired with a five-speed transmission and shaft final drive, delivering strong acceleration alongside the smoothness and range expected of a touring motorcycle.

The FJR1300 features an aluminum frame, adjustable suspension, and an electrically adjustable windscreen, allowing riders to tailor wind protection to changing conditions. Dual front disc brakes provide stopping power, while integrated hard saddlebags offer substantial storage for longer journeys. Its upright riding position, spacious seating, and aerodynamic fairing make it equally suited to highway miles and everyday use.

With sporty performance, long-distance comfort, and the convenience of shaft drive and factory luggage, the FJR1300 established itself as a capable alternative to traditional touring motorcycles. Yamaha’s approach was straightforward: deliver the power and handling of a sportbike in a package designed to cover serious distances.

This FJR1300 was previously owned by Rollin “Molly” Sanders, a prominent designer and consultant whose work helped shape the visual identity of American motorcycling. Sanders was responsible for convincing Kawasaki to adopt its now-Iconic lime green racing colors in 1969, and later created Yamaha USA’s distinctive yellow and black graphics, which became synonymous with the brand during the era of Kenny Roberts. His influence remains visible in motorcycle and automotive culture decades later.
