Description

Additional photos of this Bimota Tesi 1D EF are available here for your perusal. Please let us know if you require any other images.

Tesi is Italian for “thesis”, and the name reflects that this bike started as a thesis project by Pierluigi Marconi exploring hub-center steering for his mechanical engineering degree. The first generation was the 1D, which utilized the 93 horsepower twin from the Ducati 851, but a model refresh in 1991 called the 1D SR came with a displacement bump to 904. This was followed by the 1D ES in 1993, which got a restyle with a rounded front fairing and updated swingarms.

The final series of the 1D was called the EF. Just 25 examples were built worldwide, and Henry Ford would have been proud as they were all in black.

By the time Bimota released the EF, the 904cc (92mm/68mm bore/stroke) was producing 117 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 76 lb-ft of torque at 7,500 rpm with fuel injection, a multi-plate dry clutch, 6-speed transmission, and a dry weight of just 414 pounds.

According to the seller, this example (VIN: T1D000295) only has delivery mileage, but we have not been able to confirm that ourselves at this time.

It is still on the original MSO, which is dated October 17, 1994 and made out to Moto Cycle in Stahlstown, Pennsylvania.

The sale includes three keys, the tool kit, owner’s manual, and a Bimota brochure.

We’ve had a lot of special motorcycles come through Iconic Motorbikes in the last few months, but this is particularly special thanks to the rarity, history, and condition. This would make for an amazing piece in anyone’s collection.
