Introduced in 2003, the CBR600RR marked a dramatic shift in how Honda developed sports bikes. Project Leader Hiroyuki Ito stated, “we developed the RR in a completely different way from any model in the past. In the past Honda has always developed a road bike, then modified it for racing. But with the RR, we first built a prototype racer, then gave it to the production department.”
The CBR600RR benefitted from Honda’s learning with the RC211V MotoGP racebike with enhancements like the Unit Pro-Link rear suspension and Honda’s new dual stage fuel injection. The bike got major revisions every two years, and in 2009 Honda debuted a sportbike first of optional ABS (not equipped on this specific bike). Engine updates resulted in additional torque without having to give up top-end power.
This 2009 CBR600RR (VIN: JH2PC40109K200035) is offered by the original owner and it shows 12,248 miles on the odometer. She purchased it from a Honda dealership in Thousand Oaks, California.
There are several upgrades, most of which were installed by G&G Motorsports (no longer in business): ASV levers, a double bubble windshield, blue powdercoated wheels, HID bulbs, flush mount turn signals, frame sliders, battery tender connection, rear stand spools, GoPro mount on the tail, tank protector, and a Yoshimura RS-5 exhaust.
In addition, there is a custom water bottle mount where the left passenger peg would normally be.
The seller reports several minor cosmetic issues – there are no passenger pegs, there’s a small crack in the double bubble windshield, and scratches on the right side of the tail from a “from a sticker removal that wasn’t done right”. There are no mechanical issues and the bike has never been on the ground.
The sale includes a paddock stand, two keys, the owner’s manual, and a spare tail section.
The seller is letting go of this CBR as she is now looking for an enduro to be able to ride on and off-road.
