1995 was a bit of a holding year for Kawasaki when it came to the legendary ZX-7 – a 1993 model update (called the “L”) gained the motor from the previous year’s homologation bike (minus the close-ratio transmission and the flat slide carbs) as well as the ram-air intake, and that’s how the bike remained for two more years.
The ’95 model made 119 horsepower at the crank (a June 1995 test by Performance Bike Magazine showed 108.5 horsepower at the rear wheel). The engine was stuffed into an aluminum perimeter frame and the whole package weighed 452 pounds dry.
Originally sold in Canada, this ZX-7 (VIN: JKAZXDL13SA034178) was given to us to make up for a bike that had some paperwork issues. Because of that, we’d like to make things exciting by offering it up at no reserve!
The odometer shows 30,185 kilometers (18,865 miles).
It’s equipped with a Muzzy exhaust – there’s no baffle, so it’s quite loud!
We know that it started before it was shipped to us, but it had been sitting for a few months. We wanted to make sure that it would run for the next owner so we had Olly go through it and install a new front tire, battery, air filter, chain, rear brake pads, air duct, and front/rear sprockets, too. It also looks like it had a nitrous bottle hooked up at one point in the past.
There are a few cosmetic issues, including a scratch on the frame as shown above, scratches on the brake light, aftermarket turn signals that have been drilled into the bodywork, a scratch on the tail near the seat cowl on the left side, and over-tightened windshield mounting screws. Photos of all known cosmetic flaws are included in the album up top.
It was imported legally from Canada and is offered with a bill of sale and a Canadian title. We think this would be ideal for someone who’s looking for a minor restoration project or something to customize – are you up for it?
