When it was released, the VF1000R was a bit of a revelation: it was Honda’s flagship, designed to showcase what the Japanese firm was capable of.
It was also a huge tease to US riders, because it was initially only released in Europe only – America got the VF1000F instead, which was designed to be more of a touring bike. The R was Honda’s first road bike to benefit from gear-driven cams.
This example (VIN: JH2SC1605FM002235) has been in the seller’s family since new and in his possession since 2017.
The odometer shows 3,164 miles in these photos but the bike currently has 3,200, as seen in the video up top.
The seller is letting this bike go as it is too uncomfortable for him due to a spinal fusion surgery. He instead spends his time on bikes with more upright seating like his Ducati Multistrada and Honda Africa Twin.
His brother purchased this VF1000R when new, got interested in cars, and put this motorcycle in the back of his garage with a cover on it. The seller pulled it out of the garage in 2014, went through it to make it road ready, and covered about 400 miles on it as that’s all his back could take.
It recently got a service that included a full fluid change (brakes, clutch, coolant), new plugs, carb clean, and new Pirelli Sport Demon tires.
The entire rear cowl was repainted to take care of some scratches from a lawn mower that was leaned against the bike while in storage.
However, there are two cosmetic issues to note: a scratch in the tank logo on the right side and a scratch in the right rear cowl. Per the seller, “those are all I can find, have a friend here and we both went over the bike. The one on the rear cowling I did a month or so ago removing the seat for the full fluid change – it’s on the opposite side that the lawnmower scratch was on. Go figure!”
The seller has had this bike on display in the conference room in his business before he sold the company. It is equipped with a Hindle 4-1 exhaust and the sale will also include a F1 exhaust (no stock exhaust).
The sale includes one OEM key, the Honda shop manual and a complete tool kit.
The seller says that this machine needs nothing and he’s glad to share additional photos of any component if requested.
