The natural evolution of the 1199 Superleggera, Ducati’s 1299 Superleggera was also produced in a limited run of just 500 units. Just like its predecessor, the focus on a winning combination of more power and less weight. Courtesy of an oversquare 1,285cc engine, the power figure was raised to a staggering 215hp at 11,000rpm and 108.0 lb-ft torque at 9,000 rpm – plus another 5 horsepower with the Akrapovic exhaust included in the “race kit”.

The weight savings would make Colin Chapman proud, as Ducati extensively utilized lightweight materials – the main frame, subframe, single-sided swingarm, and wheels were all made of carbon fiber. Other touches included non-electronic suspension (that was too heavy, of course), a fixed swingarm pivot (adjustability adds weight), and titanium parts throughout the engine. All this yielded a dry weight of just 339.5 pounds (368 pounds curb).

That means there’s less mass for the Ohlins suspension and impressive brakes to manage and slow down: Brembo Monobloc Evo M50 4-piston calipers up front with 2-piston calipers in the rear, complemented by Cornering ABS.

This example (VIN: ZDMHAAJW6HB000176) is 148 out of 500, and it’s being offered by the original owner, a Ducati enthusiast with a sizable collection.

The odometer shows 1,427 miles, and it’s offered with a clean New York title.

The sale includes both factory stands but they are currently at the owner’s local dealership in New York. The bike was shipped to our headquarters in Marina del Rey, California in preparation for this auction – feel free to come by our shop to check it out in person. The sale also includes the stock exhaust, cover, two keys, and owner’s manual.

While the Superleggera comes the previously-mentioned Akrapovic race exhaust, installation of it requires the removal of the OEM bellypan and kickstand. To get around that issue, the owner installed a custom carbon fiber bellypan and carbon fiber kickstand. He believes he sourced them from Shift-Tech but he’s not 100% sure.

Aftermarket parts include the gas cap, brake lever guard, New Rage Cycles tail tidy, and Sato Racing crash guards

All recalls and maintenance were completed by Hudson Valley Motorcycles of New York, where the bike was original purchased. The owner will ship the new owner the stands, spare key, title, cover, and stock exhaust from New York once the auction has closed.

The owner is in his late 50s and notes that this is a “no excuses” bike. He’s mostly used it for personal track days – Adam spent the day with the owner at an event at New York Safety Track Day and says “he’s one of the nicest people I ran into.” The owner also happens to be a co-sponsor with Iconic Motorbike Auctions for Corey Alexander’s 2020 MotoAmerica campaign on a Graves-prepped Kawasaki ZX-10R!
