Nowadays, the phrase “Yamaha Champ” hopefully makes you think of the Yamaha Champions Riding School, but riders that have been around for a while may remember the mini-motorcycle that Yamaha released for just one year (1977) to compete against the Honda CT-70.

But in Yamaha’s home market of Japan, they used the “Champ” model name for a scooter that was available in two-stroke engines displacing either 50cc or 80cc. Here’s one of the former, a CJ50RS. These were never officially sold in the US.

This example is VIN: 2NA-1485815. Unfortunately, we are not able to confirm the year.

The odometer shows 57 kilometers (35 miles).

This is part of the estate sale that you’ve probably seen us mention on Instagram. It didn’t need much at all – Olly wiped it down, replaced the battery, and put some gas in the tank. OH…he also had to remove a sock from the airbox!

It is in fantastic cosmetic shape – the only blemish we can find is a minor scratch in the red underneath the “LIGHT” decal on the left side.

Whether you’re looking for an in-town runabout or an awesome pit bike to match your speedblock Yamaha racer, this Champ is ready for you!
