Built by Ezikiel Dacanay, this stripped down custom 749R (VIN: ZDM1UB3T55B009304) has previously been profiled in a wonderful feature on Pipeburn. It has evolved slightly in the 5 years since that story, but here are the highlights as it currently sits:
The “R” model of the 749 was heavily upgraded with the factory, with extensive engine work (titanium valves/valve guides/connecting rods, upgraded cams, magnesium head covers, and carbon fiber belt covers), Ohlins suspension front/rear/steering stabilizer, slipper clutch, 10-spoke Marchesini forged aluminum wheels, and a larger fuel tank (4.8 gallons).
The engine has been left stock, save for the additional brains of a Power Commander III.
The engine inhales through a K&N air filter and exhales through a custom 2-1 exhaust with reverse cone muffler.
Other modifications include blue SAMCO hoses.
Aluminum subframe (shorter and narrower than factory) with carbon fiber seat.
Starter servo – just press the starter button and it will automatically crank until the engine fires.
Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California for inspection (please schedule an appointment), this 749R is offered on a salvaged California title with registration current through January 2021.
The odometer shows 8,439 miles.
The only issue we note is a torn rubber gasket on the right air intake.
The 749R is a rare platform for customization, but this one takes the already-impressive performance of the stock machine and pushes it forward thanks to extra power from the PCIII + exhaust and a diet supplemented with carbon fiber.
