The Sport1000 took its inspiration from the 1973 Ducati 750 Sport and had the look of a classic lightweight single-seat cafe racer. It used a two-valve 1000DS motor stuffed in a trellis tube frame with a 56.1 in wheelbase. The suspension used three way adjustable single Sachs rear shocks and non-adjustable 43 mm Marzocchi front forks.
Borrani were approached to supply the rims, but could not supply the volume, so Excel rims were used. The Sport1000 was available in black with a white stripe, red with a white stripe, or amber with a black stripe.

The odometer shows 1,238 miles.
It is equipped with several extras, including:
Termignoni exhaust.
SpeedyMoto frame sliders and belt covers.
Rizoma brake/clutch master cylinder reservoirs.
STM clutch slave cylinder and Speedy Moto front sprocket cover.
We note some wear on the top of the tank as well as the on the left Termi exhaust.
It had been sitting for a few years, so the seller took it to Pro Italia last month to give it an annual service with belts and hydraulics. The total bill was $934.51 and the work included:
– Connect Bike to DDS and check for error codes and updates
– Check for service bulletins or updates
– Change engine oil, replace crush washer and change filter
– Flush/bleed brake and clutch fluid
– Replace timing belts
– Check brake pad thickness
– Clean, lube, and adjust drive chain
– Lube side stand pivot
– Set tire pressures to spec
– Check operation switches
– Reset service light (if possible)
– Test ride
The tech on that service stated that the bike is running rich based on the smell and a spark plug reading, the charging rate was 14.1 volts, and the test ride was OK. He also noted that the tires are from 2006 and that both rear shocks “look like they may be leaking.”
It is available for inspection at our location in Santa Monica, California, and is offered on a clean California title with non-op registration. The sale includes an OEM windscreen and mirrors. All it needs now is a new rider to enjoy it on the streets again.
