In 2018, Triumph brought back the Speedmaster name (and what a name it is!) as a new model in their Modern Classics lineup. It was formally called the Bonneville Speedmaster, as it was an easier-to-live-with version of the Bonneville Bobber with the liquid-cooled HT (High Torque) motor.
Upgrades from the Bobber included a larger tank (3.2 gallons, claimed range of 176 miles), beach cruiser bars, 28″ seat height, a frame-mounted fender with a passenger seat, as well as a suspension better suited for carrying said passenger.
Available color options were Black, Black/White, and Cranberry Red.
Like its other Bonneville-based siblings, the Speedmaster featured cruise control, traction control, ABS, Brembo dual disc front brakes, and a tremendous amount of factory optional parts.
The seller of this example (VIN: SMTD46HL1JT879646) has taken full advantage of the customization potential. He is the original owner and purchased it from Del Amo Motorsports in January of 2020.
The odometer shows 2,854 miles.
Modifications:
Triumph waxed cotton panniers and luggage rack.
Motone copper throttle body covers, Triumph blacked out crash bars (“dresser bar”), and blacked out lower engine covers.
Vance & Hines silencers with Motone X-pipe.
Heated grips, Triumph reservoir covers and Arlen Ness mirrors.
The “Speedmaster” decal on the left sidecover was removed and replaced with a Union Jack.
The sale includes the passenger seat and rear rack with backrest. The seller states that there are no mechanical issues. He’s letting it go as his wife is more comfortable as a passenger on their BMW R1250GS. There are approximately 13 months left on the factory Triumph warranty.
