The Sport1000 took its inspiration from the 1973 Ducati 750 Sport and had the look of a classic lightweight single-seat cafe racer. It used a two-valve 1000DS motor stuffed in a trellis tube frame with a 56.1 in wheelbase.
The suspension used three way adjustable single Sachs rear shocks and non-adjustable 43 mm Marzocchi front forks.
Borrani were approached to supply the rims, but could not supply the volume, so Excel rims were used. The Sport1000 was available in black with a white stripe, red with a white stripe, or amber with a black stripe.
The seller of this Sport1000 (VIN: ZDM1WABP88B010282) is the original owner. He purchased it new from Ducati of Beverly Hills in November of 2007.
The odometer shows 7,245 miles.
Rhino Moto axle sliders and Motovation frame sliders.
The original oil cooler was “damaged by user error,” a bolt was overtorqued which caused a rupture. The seller had it replaced by Ducati mechanics.
We note corrosion on the master cylinder plastic cap and a small set of scratches on the tank.
The tank has shown some spreading, which is a factory defect acknowledged by Ducati. A Ducati dealership rectified this with the installation of spacers.
The sale includes the Owner’s Manual, World Dealer’s Guide, Sport Classic Brochure, DOC stickers, the Temporary Identification from when purchased new, and a Ducati Performance cover.
The seller states that there are no mechanical issues. Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California, this Sport1000 is offered on a clean California title with registration current through December 2021.
