While the GSX-R750 debuted in 1985 for most countries, the US first got it and the bigger brother 1100 in 1986.
It was an instant classic – an aluminum box frame housed a 128 horsepower oil-cooled engine, and it looked the part thanks to the full bodywork. The dry weight was 433 pounds, an impressively low number for the time.
1987 brought about minor tweaks that bumped horsepower up to 130 and new graphics available in blue/white or black/red.
The seller of this example (VIN: JS1GU74A7H2100427, Engine #: U703-106589) acquired it in 2016.
The odometer shows 27,733 miles.
It was repainted in 2009 and the decals (from RDdecals) have been clearcoated.
The fork legs and swingarm have been powdercoated black.
A previous owner from approximately two years ago notes that the bike had a tune-up which included a carb clean, oil change, KG Clutch Factory friction plates, new spark plugs, new Avon Storm tires, and a new battery installed. In 2014 it got new front/rear brake seals, pads, fluid, and braided lines.
It also features a carbon fiber Yoshimura exhaust with jet kit and K&N pod filters.
The seller originally sent this bike to us for service and has since decided to list it on our auction site. This month we performed a carb clean, installed a new Yuasa battery, and cleaned/oiled the air filters.
Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California (please make an appointment for an inspection), this GSX-R is offered on a clean California title with non-op registration.
Please note that there is a typo on the title – it lists the model year as a 2008 instead of 1987 (782 vs 7H2).
