The NSR50 was in Honda’s lineup for decades before they blessed the USA with a chance to officially try it for ourselves in 2004. Before that year, Americans had to either order one directly from HRC (Honda Racing Corporation) or try to import one through the gray market. It was well worth the effort, because Honda used components that made it much more competent on the track than the usual choice of the Yamaha YSR50. But for 2004 (and only for that year), you could go to certain dealers and walk out with this diminutive-yet-impressive race bike the same day. It was easily the best deal in minibike racing at the time.
Producing 7.2 horsepower at about 10,000 rpm, the 49 cc two-stroke single is liquid cooled and redlined at 11.5k. This helps powered the NSR50 to a top speed of about 60 mph. Ask anyone serious about racing and they’ll tell you that this is one of the best bikes to get started on. Frankly, many experienced riders love getting practice on the NSR50 and its incredibly light weight of just 161 pounds.
The seller of this example (VIN: RS50-1101265) acquired it less than a year ago from a friend in California.
The current owner did not cover any miles with it. There is no odometer so true mileage is unknown, however the seller estimates that there are less than 50 miles on it.
During his ownership, the seller had the tank and carburetor cleaned. He says that the bike is 100% mechanically stock and that there are no mechanical issues.
Cosmetically, we note a few minor scratches.
It is still on the original tires, which are from 2004.
Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California, this Honda is offered on a bill of sale only.
The seller is letting it go as he is not riding it because he’s got too many projects. Have any NSR50R stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the comments!
