Additional photos of this 2004 Honda NSR50R are available here for your perusal.
The NSR50 was in Honda’s lineup for decades before they blessed the USA with a chance to officially try it for ourselves in 2004. Before that year, Americans had to either order one directly from HRC (Honda Racing Corporation) or try to import one through the gray market. It was well worth the effort, because Honda used components that made it much more competent on the track than the usual choice of the Yamaha YSR50. But for 2004 (and only for that year), you could go to certain dealers and walk out with this diminutive-yet-impressive race bike the same day. It was easily the best deal in minibike racing at the time.
Producing 7.2 horsepower at about 10,000 rpm, the 49 cc two-stroke single is liquid cooled and redlined at 11.5k. This helps powered the NSR50 to a top speed of about 60 mph. Ask anyone serious about racing and they’ll tell you that this is one of the best bikes to get started on. Frankly, many experienced riders love getting practice on the NSR50 and its incredibly light weight of just 161 pounds.
The seller of this example (VIN: RS50-1101120) purchased it a year ago from a Honda dealership, where they were using it as a display bike.
It “was originally dealer prepped and started but never ridden. The gas was not drained right away so there is a little pitting on the neck of the tank.
Otherwise, it’s virtually a brand new mini race bike. Would make a great addition to any collection or race at the local track.”
The owner has verified that the carb is “completely clean and empty” and has detailed the machine. It is factory stock.
Cosmetic Blemishes:
The seller notes a scratch on the tank that “looks like it came from a zipper” as well as two scratches on the rear fender.
The seller states that it does not have any mechanical issues.
The sale includes the “Owner’s Manual/Competition Handbook.”
Currently located in Vandalia, Michigan, this NSR is offered on a clean Michigan title. The seller is letting it go as he is moving and cannot take the bike with him to his new location.
