KTM came out swinging when they decided to create their first supersport machine. The RC8 featured a 1,195cc V-Twin engine that put out 170 horsepower and a surprising amount of adjustability – both levers, the bars, subframe/seat, pegs, shifter, brake pedal, and ride height.
It initially debuted in 2008, but a year later they offered the RC8R, which came with several upgrades including forged Marchesini alloy wheels, shorter wheelbase, more power (180 hp), carbon fiber front fender, orange powder-coated frame, WP suspension, and radially-mounted Brembo monobloc calipers.
2010 was the first year that Americans got their chance to officially purchase the Austrian sportbike, and that year, KTM also offered up two limited editions: the IDM Red Bull edition as well as an Akrapovic edition.
Both Limited Editions stood out from the base model with special bodywork, a limited edition number plate on the top triple, and an optional “Club Race Kit” which included an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, thinner head gaskets, improved air filter and a tool for adjusting the camshafts.
Manufactured in February of 2010, this example (VIN: VBKVR9408AM969919) is #14 of the 25 Akrapovic Editions. The seller bought it from us in June of 2019.
The odometer shows 2,143 miles.
