Description
Additional photos of this 1982 Cagiva Alazzurra Custom are available here for your perusal.
Per the seller, “This one-of-a-kind sporting machine is the result of the compatibility of Cagiva and Ducati components from those model years when both brands were divisions of the same company with shared engineering. The goal of the custom build was to create a very special middleweight super sport machine incorporating the best individual major components and offering thrilling street performance and a race ready set up for track use.” It combines a Cagiva Alazzurra 350 frame with a European Ducati 749cc engine to become something called “The Madman.”
The seller of this example (VIN: DOM 51462 OM 2M*000259, Engine #: ZDM749W4*008959*) acquired it from a collector in Italy and imported it in September of 2020.
The odometer shows 3,159 kilometers (1,962 miles).
Modifications:
The European Ducati 749 engine is paired with 749 butterfly throttle bodies, electrical system, radiators, gauges, and ECU.
Ducati 999S swingarm, shock, rear wheel, and rear brakes.
Brembo 19 RCS Corsa Corta clutch and front brake master cylinders.
Ducati 900SS front fork, Ducati 916 front brakes.
Cagiva Mito 125 fairings and front wheel.
Second fuel tank underneath the rear seat (for weight distribution).
Not pictured is a Magneti Marelli lithium battery.
Cosmetic Blemishes: the seller states that the “cracks have been covered as I had the graphics redone” since these photos were taken, some of which can be seen in the video up top. There are several minor wear spots in the bodywork and some corrosion on metal parts.
There is also a minor dent in the right side of the tank under the first “A” of “CAGIVA.”
Currently located in San Mateo, California, this Cagiva is offered on a clean California title with registration current through October 2022 (the seller has renewed registration since the photos were taken). The bike comes with its original Italian license plate as well.
The seller sums up his bike by saying, “the result of the happy marriage of all this alloy and magic is a sensational bike to ride. The compact wheelbase and frame geometry delivers an exceptionally nimble motorcycle and the strong 749 powerplant provides rocket power for tight roads and tracks. The sound is raucous and rowdy and the “MadMan” really rocks.” Have any questions about this listing? Let us know in the comments!
