Ducati offered two versions of the 900SS – a full-fairing (SS/SP) and a half-fairing (SS/CR). In this piece on Cycle World, Peter Egan says that this 900SS is “the used motorcycle you need” and notes that “they made perfectly comfortable long-distance touring bikes, but on winding roads through the Black Hills, they metamorphosed back into sportbikes of deep finesse, with killer, real-world midrange and light, intuitive handling.”
For 1996, Ducati swapped out the Showa suspension in the CR with Marzocchi forks and a Boge shock.
This example is VIN: ZDM1LC4N2TB022288. The seller acquired it roughly two years ago from a private party in Maryland. “It was in parts when I got it, so I had to basically rebuild her.”
During his ownership, he’s covered approximately 2,500 miles. The odometer shows 7,315 miles.
Cosmetic Blemishes:
The seller notes some small chips in the left rear seat cowl.
Otherwise, there just appears to be general road grime and very minor wear as to be expected for the age. Please see the album up top for more photos.
The seller recently rebuilt the clutch master and slave cylinder as well as installed new fork seals, a new chain, and a new battery. The “valves were done with new belts when I got it two years ago at the 5,000 mile mark. She is absolutely gorgoues! Runs like a champ, sounds amazing! She is a real head-turner when I take her to the Ducati get togethers.” He states that there are no known mechanical issues.
Currently located in Chantilly, Virginia (please make an appointment for an inspection), this Ducati is offered on a clean Virginia title.
