Pierfrancesco “Frankie” Chili is an Italian motorcycle racer who had a lengthy career in GP racing and WSBK – he competed in 278 WSBK races between 1995 and 2006.

After winning the 1985 125cc European Championship, Chili was called up to the pinnacle of road racing – the 500cc World Championship. His rookie season in 1986 was on a HB International/Team Gallina Suzuki RG500 – check out this photo from him racing at Paul Ricard Circuit.

In his rookie season, he earned three top-10 finishes (season best of 6th at Spa) and placed 10th overall even though he missed the final three rounds. It was an impressive debut, especially on a bike that was a bit outdated compared to the competition. “It was a good experience because I really wanted to be in 500s, but the bike wasn’t at the level of the other factory bikes. But I enjoyed it.” Frankie then switched to Honda for five years, with a best overall finish of sixth place in 1989 on a NSR500.

It shows wear from a crash, and one sponsor patch has been cut out from each arm.

Frankie was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s, and he proudly stated: “I have Parkinson’s, but I’m a rider and I’ll fight”. We wish him the best!
