Description

Additional photos on this 1970 Moto Guzzi Ambassador are available here for your perusal.

The Moto Guzzi Ambassador was developed as a successor to the V7, which was initially built to provide a police platform in their home country of Italy. The Berliner brothers (the US importer) convinced MG to bring it to the US in an attempt to snag some cruiser customers away from Harley-Davidson.

The Ambassador (also called the V750) got some upgrades to target the US market, and Americans responded favorably – in 1971, Moto Guzzi set an internal record by producing over 46,400 examples.

For a lot of Americans, this was the start to their love affair with Moto Guzzi. The 757cc motor was good for 60 horsepower (10 more than the V7), and a nearly 6 gallon tank meant you could eat up miles without having to stop often. For more on the Ambassador, check out this story on Motorcycle Classics.

Manufactured in February 1970, this example is VIN: 14839. The seller purchased this a year ago from a private party on Bring a Trailer. The seller loves it but “she’s just too beautiful for someone of my caliber”.

During his ownership, he’s covered “a few hundred miles.” The odometer shows 25,053 miles.

Maintenance:
The seller notes a recent full service with photo documentation supplied in the album up top – it included a general refresh, flushed gas tank, new fluids, points, plugs, timing set, and setting the valve lash.

He adds that the previous owner took care of “replacement of the cylinders, pistons, rings, wiring harness, and clutch, also a carb & trans rebuild.”

Cycle Garden Moto Guzzi hand painted tank and laced wheels.

Modifications:
Gilardoni race cylinder kit. The sale includes the original cylinders and pistons.

Cadmium-plated fasteners and Borrani rims.

Hagon shocks.

Cosmetic Blemishes:
The seller notes that “superficially adhered numbers are falling off the speedometer.”

Currently located in Kingston, New York, this Moto Guzzi is offered on a clean New York title.
