In 2015, Yamaha decided to challenge the small bike establishment with their release of the R3, and the end result was impressive. Sport Rider opened up their review by simply saying it was “worth the wait.” Thanks to a 321cc motor, it was faster than the competition from Honda and Kawasaki, and it quickly became Yamaha’s best selling motorcycle in the US. It also became a popular platform for ~300 cc racing. The model was updated in 2019 with new bodywork, significantly improved suspension, and upgraded tires to make it a very impressive baby sportbike. Basic specs were 41 horsepower, 22 lb-ft of torque, and a curb weight of just 368 pounds.

The seller had Motorsport Exotica create a MotoAmerica-spec racer out of his R3. He’s ridden it four times on the track (it’s never been raced), and the seller says that it’s “never been down, never been abused, kept in a heated garage, and is in perfect condition.”
Modifications: per the seller, the MotoAmerica-spec build cost $15,000 (including the bike). Highlights of the work include:
Not pictured is a Power Commander 5, full ECU Tune (Dyno sheet available), Graves smog plates, and Woodcraft key delete. A PDF of the dyno sheet is viewable here.
Cosmetic Blemishes:
The seller states that there are no cosmetic blemishes.
It is riding on Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa tires.
