Kawasaki first introduced the GPz750 in 1982 as a direct replacement for the KZ750. Despite their similarities, the GPz brought with it a number of changes — it proved to be much more than a rehashed Z bike.

For instance, Kawasaki treated the steering head to some tapered bearings and swapped out the bike’s traditional handlebars in favor of a set of solid aluminum clip-ons. What’s more, the Big K modified the engine extensively, boosting the compression, redesigning the camshafts, and fitting it with a set of Mikuni 34mm carburetors. As if all of that wasn’t enough, Kawasaki gave the cylinder heads a new and improved combustion chamber and offered them with porting and polishing from the factory.

When combined with an all-new frame, Uni-Trak suspension, and a set of fresh brakes and wheels, such changes made the GPz750 the quickest stock 750 of its day. Cycle World recorded a 1/4 mile time of 11.93 seconds at 109.62mph, calling the GPz an “improved KZ750” that gave riders “that distinctive sense of raw strength, muscular and unbreakable.” In short: “the best in its class.”

Maintenance:
In preparation for the listing, the seller had us install a new battery, install new spark plugs, rinse out the fuel tank, and clean/sync the carbs. Daniel and Steve did the work, they note that the brakes are at 80%/70% front/rear and that the oil, lights, killswitch, and horn are all OK.

Modifications:
Zero Gravity windshield.
