Back in 2007, offered three 400-450cc off-road models in its lineup, one of which was the 450XC you see before you. Engineered for “closed course” riding, the XC featured the largest bore of the lot, enabling plenty of grunt to throttle your way out of the rough.
What’s more, the 450XC boasted an electric start, making it a much more livable dirt steed — no matter if it was for motocross, desert, or woods riding. Better still, though, was the transmission. Because KTM also gave it a semi-close-ratio gearbox, the 450XC was as smooth-shifting as it was versatile, comfortable to maneuver on a variety of different terrains.
This example is VIN: VBKMXM4097M321096.
The odometer shows 7,288 miles.
This is one of Abhi’s personal bikes – here’s the short story:
“I bought this bike in 2015 with 6,248 miles on it as my first dirt bike after being inspired by my buddy Nathan May (you’ve seen his photos all over Iconic over the years). He and I used to ride our KTMs (he had a 525 EXC) on a weekly basis – mostly on pleasure rides:
We also did LA-Barstow-Vegas on them.
Unfortunately, I’m lacking the time to ride dirt nowadays so the bike has been sitting for a bit and I don’t see myself riding this regularly any time soon.
It was a great way to get introduced to the world of dirt – I learned a lot (and had plenty of small crashes with it), but now it’s time for someone else to enjoy it.”
Maintenance:
May 2016: MetrikMoto rebuilt the top end.
December 2017: Beverly Hills Ducati (at the time it was also a KTM dealership) rebuilt the rear brake as the caliper was sticking.
In preparation for the listing, Iconic cleaned and tuned the carb, installed a new battery, and replaced the air filter, air filter carrier, and petcock. Yonni did the work; he notes that the tires are at 80%, and that the front and rear brakes are at 80% and 30%, respectively. Additionally, he reports that the oil is low and the coolant is low. The headlight, tail light, brake light, plate light, and killswitch are all OK. The turn signals and horn, however, are not functional. Abhi notes that they have never worked during his possession and were likely just thrown on by a previous owner to help make it street legal for a license plate.
“The kick start lever fell off at some point and I never bothered to replace it as the electric starter was sufficient for my needs.”
