The second generation of the Katana was a very different machine than the original creation penned by Hans Muth. Beneath the bike’s sporty, shark-like styling, it featured an engine similar to the long-stroke block found in the GSX-R750, though it was tuned much like naked sportbikes are now –- more for mid-range torque than all-out power.
In practice, this meant that the 750cc four put down 106hp at 10,500rpm and 55lb-ft of torque at 9,500rpm. On the road, such figures enabled a 3.5-second 0-60mph time and a top speed of 143mph.
Manufactured in September of 1991, this example is VIN: JS1GR78A6N2100457. The seller had the bike sitting for 3-4 years and sold it to us to clear up space.
The odometer shows 13,873 miles.
Maintenance:
This Katana 750 has been sitting for 3-4 years. In preparation for the listing, we had us gave it a once over — we replaced the battery, changed the oil and oil filter, flushed the brake fluid, cleaned and synced the carbs, and fixed the horn wiring. Additionally, we gave the bike a detail and installed new Shinko SR740 tires with date codes of 5020 and 3421.
