Born October 18, 1970, Alexandre Barros is a former Brazilian road racer with quite the pedigree and history of racing motorcycles. At the early age of 8, Barros began racing minibikes, where he won his first Brazilian championship. Within 2 years from his first championship, Alex had won twice in the Brazilian moped championships, once in the 50cc class, and once in 1985 in the 250cc class.
Fast forward to the early 90’s, after many years spent in various Championships across many different classes, Barros became the youngest pilot to join the highest level of competition in the world: the 500cc World Championships. During his tenure in the Championship he saw 7 race wins, with his highest overall placing at the end of a season being 4th.
In 2006, Honda recruited him for a stint in the WSBK, with help from his very own wallet to fund the endeavor. He earned three podium finishes (early in the championship during rounds 2,3, and 4) and won one round as well. At the end of a decades-long career, Alexandre Barros boasted a record-holding career in a class with the highest level of competition, as well as a string of championships stemming from the stunning age of 8. Alex was and still is a huge inspiration to many, as Motorcyclesports.net would phrase it: “The inspiration of the youngest of the Espargaró brothers in Barros was such that the Spaniard chose number 44 – Barros was 4 – as his favorite number.
These leathers were worn during Barros’ stint in WSBK with the Klaffi Honda team. During this time, he earned himself a few podiums, and ended the season as the second highest Honda rider in WSBK, coming in at 6th just behind former champion James Toselan.

He saw the best success in this livery at Imola, taking his first WSBK win of the season.
